Our last trip together in Yorkshire: To the North Sea!

Klaas Jan was preparing well for todays trials: Full English this morning!

After driving the same road to Pickering as yesterday we proceeded to Thornton-le-Dale were the Classic Car Auction shop of Mathewson was. However we found only a couple of young timers in front of the shop so we decided to move on.

We entered the beautiful (and shady!) Dolby Forest Drive: a ‘long and winding road’ through the woodlands of the Norh Yorkshire Moors well kept by the National Forestry.

We didn’t need to buy a ticket if we were passing through within half an hour, but luckily some people were working at the end gate to let us through without any problem…..…

We passed some beautiful small dwellings with nice gardens in front and up we went on a very steep zigzag road again on our way to the coast.

Before we reached the North Sea at Raven Hall House for lunch there was a road block but with the united forces of TomTom, Regina and her ‘analog’ map we found a narrow detour were we were held up again by a slow moving tractor completely blocking the road.

However we arrived at Raven Hall quite in time to overlook the beautiful sea view all the way to the tiny ‘smugglers harbour’ of Robin Hood’s Bay. What  a magnificent view!

There we met Brian’s brother Allan - who introduced himself as his more handsome brother - and his wife Jan who were invited by Brian to come over from Hull to join us for lunch.

We enjoyed our lunch together with the beautiful views from the panorama restaurant and pleasant conversation about cars (of course) and the beauty of Yorkshire and even of Rotterdam…

After saying goodbye to Allan & Jan and a nice picture of the Bella’s with the sea view as background, we moved on by again some very steep up and down roads up to the Moors again where we made a side turn towards Goathland again, but now by road…

Now we crossed the tiny village and went up again to the main road and to Pickering.

Jennie&Rene did some shopping there while the others proceeded along the planned route more south. On that way they now finally crossed a ford with some water in it so they had an neat splash!

After meeting up again in the Plum we refreshed with some drinks and also exchanged some nice presents.

Now waiting for our last - farewell - dinner together in the Plum before setting off tomorrow morning when everybody goes their own way.
